What Complications Might Occur During and After My Surgery?

Yet with all surgical procedures, there are risks.

Possible complications that can occur during and after any surgical procedure:

1. Bleeding - Some blood loss during and after surgery is normal with any procedure. Excessive blood loss can create more serious complications. If you have a history of excessive blood loss, you should discuss that with your surgeon in detail prior to your procedure.

2. Blood Clots (DVT)- Inform your surgeon right away if you or anyone in your family has a history of blood clots in the legs and lungs before having any surgery. Blood clots can occur as a result of a medical condition or from immobilization. Blood clots are difficult to predict, but there are steps to take to help prevent them: during your recovery process, get up and move around often- avoid staying in the same position for too long.
