Breast Lift Surgery
(Mastopexy)
Over time, a woman's breasts often change and may lose their youthful shape. Changes such as loss of skin elasticity can occur from pregnancy, breast-feeding, weight fluctuations, aging and gravity. Heredity may also play a role.
If you desire to restore the shape of your breasts, then a breast lift (mastopexy) may be right for you.
A Mastopexy, is a surgical procedure designed to remove excess skin, and to restore the firmness and shape of your breasts.
A Breast Lift Can:
Re-position the nipple higher up on the breast
Give breasts a more youthful appearance
Give a better shape
Reduce the areolar size (the pigmented area around the nipple)
Increase breast firmness
Enhance your self-image
Build your confidence
Restore what you may have lost due to pregnancy or weight loss
Restores proportion to your breasts
Balance out asymmetry of breasts
There are two main types of breast lift incisions:
Vertical (or Lollipop):
this incision goes around the areolar complex (the pigmented area of the breast), and down the front of the breast to the fold.
Anchor (or classic lift):
this incision goes around the areolar complex, down the front of the breast and under the breast along the crease.
Depending on your situation, one of our board-certified cosmetic surgeons will determine which incision will give you the best result.
In general, a breast lift raises the breasts by removing excess skin and tightening the surrounding tissue to reshape and support the new breast contour. This procedure rejuvenates the female figure with a breast profile that is more youthful and uplifted.
The surgery is performed to improve the shape of:
a female breast that Sags;
Has lost firmness and skin elasticity;
Has a flatter, elongated shape;
When unsupported, the nipple falls below the breast crease;
Has a nipple and areola that point downward;
Has stretched skin and an enlarged areola.
When breast volume is also a concern, a combination of a breast lift and augmentation may be desired. Good candidates for a breast lift are usually women of normal, stable weight whose breasts are fully developed and who have no plans to have more children.
