What Is The Difference Between A Tummy Tuck And Liposuction?

The Liposuction procedure is designed to slim and re-shape specific areas of the body by removing localized or regional excess fat deposits. This improves your body contour andproportion. Liposuction is not intended to be a substitute for weight loss.

Tummy Tucks are designed to remove excess and/or loose hanging skin on the abdomen, tighten stomach muscles that have become weakened by aging, weight changes, pregnancy or a protruding abdomen, and generally performed on women who have had children.

If you feel you are a candidate for either of these procedures or have questions,

How To Find Out If Your Doctor Is Accredited

A board-certified cosmetic surgeon can’t guarantee perfect results, but there is nothing that can replace the education and experience of a surgeon who has devoted their life to improving yours.

Patients are advised to find a doctor who is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS), the only board recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties to certify a surgeon in plastic surgery of the face and of the entire body.

Certification by the ABPS is one of the highest accomplishments for a plastic surgeon because it means that the surgeon has formal training in an accredited plastic surgery residency program and is required to maintain their certification through an extensive on-going training and certification.

If your surgeon is ABPS-certified, they will have:

· Completed at least five years of surgical residency training after medical school, including at least two years in plastic surgery.
· Has passed comprehensive cosmetic and reconstructive surgery exams.
· Is qualified to perform cosmetic and reconstructive procedures – everything from liposuction and facelifts to intricate wound repair.

To verify a surgeon’s certification status, contact either of these organizations:

Am I A Good Candidate For Cosmetic Surgery?

If you are one of the millions of people who are considering cosmetic surgery, then it is very important to make sure that you are honest with yourself and understand why you want to have cosmetic surgery and what you expect to achieve from it.

You may be a good candidate for cosmetic surgery if you live a healthy lifestyle, have a realistic expectation of what cosmetic surgery can do, and understand the information provided to you. Whether you have one or two areas of your body that bother you and you want to change them, or you have a physical abnormality or defect that has had affected how you think, feel and act.

It is very important to have a realistic expectation of what cosmetic surgery can, or can’t do, and understand the information provided to you.

You might be a good candidate for cosmetic surgery if:

• You are in good general health.
• You are emotionally stable.
• You are at, or near, your ideal weight.
• You exercise regularly.
• You don’t smoke (or willing to quit for 3 weeks before and after surgery).
• You have a support system.
• You are doing research.
• You have the time for recovery.
• Are not going through a significant point of stress, physical or emotional burden.

It is important to be realistic about what changes you can expect to achieve through surgery. Having cosmetic surgery won’t make you look 20 years younger or get you a new life. Your lifestyle may increase your risk of complications-and could cause your newly acquired look to fade quickly or early.

If you feel that you meet these expectations of a good candidate or
have questions and concerns about your own unique situation, then please
